Dr. Millstein has extensive experience in a broad range of IP law, including patent prosecution, designing intellectual property strategies to achieve business objectives, evaluating patentability issues, crafting applications and prosecution strategy to maximize the value of intellectual property assets, evaluating freedom to operate issues, undertaking IP-related technology analysis and evaluation, formulating patent litigation strategy, counseling on substantive due diligence, and analyzing and advising on strategic business issues and planning involving IP, technology assessment and forecasting. 

His practice specializes in technically complex matters, particularly relating to pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals; transgenics and stem cells; genomics and expression profiling; molecular biology; array and miniaturization technologies, including MEMS, nano- and single molecule technologies. 

He has authored a variety of publications on his scientific research and on patent law and technology. He is a co-inventor in several patent applications on polynucleotide amplification methods, and he is the sole inventor in several patent applications on micro-arrays.
