Biography:

Mr. Branigan handles all areas of electrical and mechanical inventions. He joined the firm in 1992, bringing extensive experience in interference and litigation matters. Mr. Branigan was a founding member of the Board of Governors of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Virginia State Bar, an Adjunct professor of Intellectual Property Law at the Potomac Law School, and is a seminar lecturer on intellectual property. He received his JD from George Washington University and handled infringement claims in the NASA Office of General Counsel before entering private practice as a founding partner of Griffin and Branigan. Mr. Branigan attended the University of Notre Dame; served as an officer in the United States Air Force during the Korean War; and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Tau Beta Pi) from the University of Colorado. He worked as a Development Engineer with IBM on computer memory systems before joining the IBM Patent Department. He is a registered patent attorney, and a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He is admitted to practice before the courts of the District of Columbia and Virginia, the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court and other federal courts.
